Psalm 49

Psalm 49 is a classic psalm that shows the difference in how God deals with the righteous and those that are self righteous !  When you read this it sounds un-American !  We see in the very first verse that it is intended for the entire human race. " Hear this, all peoples; Give ear, all inhabitants of the world.."  Fro there the psalmist goes on to explain how he will be wise and the one who boasts in his wealth can not buy redemption or bribe God for salvation !  The one who brags about his wealth will die just like the sheep of the field and will leave his wealth to others. The classic " You can't take it with you." Verse 10 says," For he sees wise men die: Likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, and leave their wealth to others."  This same thought is mentioned throughout God's word, as an example when Jesus says what good does it do a man to gain the whole world but loose his soul ?  The psalm wraps up by saying do not be upset when someone gets rich and famous as the will bless themselves because they will never see light !  This is a very sad truth and we must always remember that God blesses us so we may be a blessing to others !
